[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] TCP/IP & DECnet on PC

deanr@lakesys.UUCP (Dean Roth) (01/29/89)

I need to run TCP/IP and DECnet on a MS-DOS system simultaneously.
The big question is "how". I've been using "Community DOS" DECnet,
which uses an Excelan board, and Excelan's TCP/IP. But how can
I run both at the same time? I suspect I'll need two Ethernet boards
for an MS-DOS system. Anyone able to help me with this?
What software/hardware combinations do I need? Thank you for your help!

Our newly-released (2 weeks ago) version of PC/TCP for DECnet/DOS and PCSA
will do what you want. It uses the "dll" interface to share whatever network
interface the DEC software is using. You need DEC's SCH.EXE and DLL.EXE to
run it (they come with DECnet/DOS and PCSA). I think they are available for
any hardware that DECnet/DOS supports (I've done all my testing on a DEPCA).
Ask for our part PC-223.

You already know about "Community DOS", who don't allow simultaneous operation.
I don't know of anyone else who has done this, although the "dll" interface
has been published by DEC.
