[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] DELL 325

ddp+@ANDREW.CMU.EDU (Drew Daniel Perkins) (01/28/89)

Has anyone had any experience with Dell systems? I just got a Dell System 325,
the 25MHz '386 machine. My IBM PC Token Ring card seems to work, but my wd8003
and Proteon p1344 cards don't. Also, a 3com 3c501 card seems to work in the
16MHz machine we have here. Has anyone gotten these to work?

Drew

p.s. The ibmtr card gets 1.33Mb/sec with FTP using the FTP Software kernel.
Yow...

Thanks to Doug McCallum <dougm@ico.ISC.COM>, my wd8003 card is now working
wonderfully in my Dell System 325. The problem was the Video-7 ROM at c000:0
was colliding with the default wd8003 location at c400:0. Putting the wd8003 at
d000:0 makes it work quite well...

Proteon is in the process of doing a board (will be p1345) that fixes the
problems with many of the clones. That particular one is not on my list
but other fast Dell ones are and thus I expect that one will work. Contact
me on this.
