[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] How to get NCSA Telnet version 2.2C via E-mail

bkc@OMNIGATE.CLARKSON.EDU (Brad Clements) (02/08/89)

Previous directions on how to retrieve version 2.2C of NCSA Telnet
via the mail archiver were incorrect.

To get a uuencoded compressed tar file of the binaries,
do the following:

	% mail archive-server@sun.soe.clarkson.edu
	  Subject:

path <your return address goes here>
	  send ncsa2.2c ncsabin.tar.Z.uuaa

	  ^D

Then send a second mail message that is identical, except substitute
	  send ncsa2.2c ncsabin.tar.Z.uubb

(each file is approximately 100K long)
The path statement should be whatever address you want the
file sent to (presumably your own E-mail address)

You can get the modified ascii documentation by sending the following
command to the archive-server:

	send ncsa2.2c PCtelnet2.2c.ascii

As mentioned previously, the binaries, source and documentation is available
via anonymous ftp from omnigate.clarkson.edu from the directory
pub/ncsa2.2c

Some packet drivers have also been added to the ncsa2.2c directory on
omnigate, or
You can get packet drivers (and source) via mail by using the following
command:

	% mail archive-server@sun.soe.clarkson.edu
	Subject:

path <your return address goes here>
	send ka9q drivers01 drivers02 drivers03

(You can also send seperate messages to the archive server, requesting
one driver file at a time, otherwise all three files will be sent as
one message, which may be too long for your mailer to handle)

The binaries on sun.soe.clarkson.edu, and omnigate.clarkson.edu have
been changed as of 14:30 EST 2/7/89. These new binaries fix a bug in
the NLST command of the ftp server, which would cause mget's to fail.

A fixed source module (bkgr.c) is also available via ftp from omnigate.
The old source tar file has not been updated.
