[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] tnvt keyboard reprogramming

SIMON1@HBUNOS.BITNET (Simon Shickman) (06/15/89)

Hello,
A question about "tnvt" of FTP Software.
Can I reprogramm the keyboard so that some keys will send any
characters string, and not just the predefined VT100/vt220
function key seq., something similar to kermit?

Thanks for any help.

No. Our keyboard handler only deals with single keys. The multi-key
VT220 escape sequences are generated elsewhere in the program, and
can't be configured by the user. Thus, you can move keys, and unused
8-bit character codes can be defined as being generated by some
particular keystroke or combination (chord), but you can't define F12
as "jbvb<CR>password<CR>" or anything like that.

If you like kermit, either wait for our INT 14 telnet to appear in the
basic product (next release), or get the INT 14 telnet right now ($40
to cover the extra disk and shipping), and use kermit for the user
interface instead.
