[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Commercial Packet Drivers

glen@aecom.yu.edu (Glen M. Marianko) (06/17/89)

I am looking for commercial sources of FTP-Inc. compliant Packet Drivers
for ethernet cards. I am currently using the TCP Workstation driver
from Interlan which allows me simultaneous Novell IPX and TCP/IP.
Because of my extreme dissatisfaction with the support provided by
Interlan, as well as incompatibility problems with 8088/6 machines,
I am looking for another source.

I'm aware that there are several public domain implementations, but
I would prefer a source that I can send money to and get a diskette.
If this is not to be, is there a source for these PD drivers other
than by FTP - we have no internet connection yet (RSN).

Many thanks.

Other commercial vendors who have written Packet Drivers (either
separate or as part of a Netware IPX.COM) are Univation, Gateway, IMC
Networks, D-Link, Acer, Schneider & Koch, Sytek & 10Net Communications.
I wouldn't expect any board vendor besides Interlan to be interested in
supporting the Interlan cards, and Novell is taking their own direction,
with the OLI spec.

You can get a floppy with the Clarkson drivers on it from us (it is normally
included as part of PC-210, our Generic Ethernet version of PC/TCP). As of
this instant, it may not have been updated to reflect the latest changes
in the Clarkson distribution, but we'll do that ASAP.

The recent changes to the copyrighting on the Clarkson drivers make it
possible for a commercial organization to offer support (at a fee) for
users of those drivers. I haven't seen any announcements yet, but I
take it that there is demand...
