A friend is using an environment consisting of an IBM-PC (True-Blue, but unknown model), a TCP/IP implementation from CMU/MIT, and an ethernet board whose manufacturer's name I have forgotten. He wants to change Ethernet controller boards, and plans to use a DEC "DEPCA" board (Don't know why). He asked me to see if anyone could share experience with this combination of equipment, and if there is an existing device driver for the DEPCA board. Can you help? -- -- Michael T. Not really. But here is what I know.... The DEPCA board runs DEC's PCSA software great. It might even be the best board for PCSA. I seem to remember something about it being close to a 3com board but.......... That's all I remember. mark

A packet driver version would be preferred, but any accepted. Not really, I'm afraid... In the shop where I spend my days as a systems administrator, we have a lot of DEPCA's. They are very fine boards, *if* you run DEC's PCSA. They beat the hell out of an InterLan 5010 or a 3COM 3C501. DEPCA's contain an Ethernet processor called the LANCE. The one in our boards is the Advanced Micro Devices AMD 7990. I haven't seen *any* driver for the LANCE processor for use with PCIP. I am at a stage right now where I'm going to get the spec sheets and attempt to hack one up myself (that is, as soon as I get PCIP compiled under Turbo C :-) ).
