[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Two packet drivers?

EMERSON@MAINE.BITNET (10/07/89)

I could use a packet driver for a starlan card. Does anyone
know if one exists or is under development?

Also I run 386/ix (a 386 UNIX package) on one machine with vpix
(DOS under UNIX). I want a packet driver that would access
the network through the DOS/UNIX interface and through the UNIX
network interface. Again is there anything of the sort available
or under development for 386/ix or any other DOS under UNIX
package?

The WD8003/S and the NI5210ST are both identical to their 10Mb counterparts
as far as software is concerned (although there are bugs in early 8390 chips
which your software had better be able to deal with when they show up, if you
get the WD8003/S). 10Net sells a packet driver for their 1Mb card. I don't
think there is any packet driver for the AT&T card, though.

I don't know of anyone who has done what you suggest with VPIX. Depending
on the version of VPIX (SCO's won't work, I think), you should be able to
run DOS TCP/IPs in the DOS session, but sharing it with Unix would be tricky.
