[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Need a FTP server for an IBM

chris@super.ORG (Chris P. Ross) (10/13/89)

Greetings. I have been getting myself more involved in taking IBM binaries
from off of the net and other sources, in uuencoded format, and I have no way
(that I know of) to transfer these files in binary form to my pc at home
(modem connection to SRC) If any of you know of a way to do this (I think I
may be able to do this by working from PC's at SRC and connected through the
local net there, but i haven't tried it) I would much appriciate hearing of it.
Thanks you.

                                             - Chris

Please respond via email (chris@super.org) as I don't do near as much
news reading as I'd like to.

Several of the commercial and non-commercial TCP/IP packages support SLIP as
defined in RFC 1055 (Serial Line IP - uses standard asynch hardware). You'd
need to set up something to be the other end, but many Unices and terminal
concentrators can do this.

Almost all of the DOS TCP/IPs have FTP clients (PC-IP doesn't). Many of them
also have servers.
