[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] WIN/Route problem

WARLICK@DUCVAX.AUBURN.EDU (Chuck Warlick) (11/10/89)

Maybe someone out there can help. I am running Wollongong's WIN/Route
on a PC clone as an IP router. I have tried various mixes of brands of
ethernet cards and find that the Western Digital card (WD8003EBT) with
a boot rom socket will not work with WIN/Route. The symtoms are as
follows.

1. The computer boots normally.
2. The software drivers from the config.sys load fine.
3. The WIN/tcp kernel trys to load and the floppy disk
   spins forever.

The non boot ROM version of the card works fine. All of the cards
pass all diagnostics with fail and the boot ROM part of the EBT cards
is disabled. The program will run with one non EBT and one EBT but
not with two EBT. I have talked to Wollongong and Western Digital
and have not been able to resolve this problem.

If you have any suggestions how to get these cards to work (other than
buying new cards) please let me know.
