[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Need NCSA telnet s/w information

bobp@tekcae.tek.com (Robert N. Perry (Sky Scum)) (11/21/89)

Can anyone tell me where I can pick up the latest version of NCSA's
telnet s/w ? I've got version 1.04 (I think) and I understand that there's
a version 2.xx floating around with numerous bug fixes and new features.
I'd like to get the sources, too, as we use this package quite extensively
in my group here at Tektronix.
	Thanks in advance.

I'd be interested in that too...! I learned about NCSA telnet from this
news group about a year ago. After some mailing and asking around, I learned,
that with no anonymeous ftp available, I had to order (by S-Mail, not E-Mail)
an order form from U. of Illinois. I did, it took about 3 months for the form
to swim across the ocean. I filled it in, ordered some manuals too and sent
a check for $58.25. This was February 1989. It took about another 3 months
till the check was cashed. --- and then, there was silence. I expected, I
had to wait another 2 to 4 months to receive the stuff, but nothing happened.
I think, it's about time now, to start complaining that the order got lost?

I don't want to complain here, that the order got lost, that's something that
can happen. Only, what really pissed me off, was that when I rechecked the
order form, there was only an S-Mail address, no phone or fax number nor a
E-Mail address! Given that in the past it took them regularly 3 months to
react - how could I then complain with any hope of success?
