This doesn't have a lot to do with the PCIP mailing list, but Kermit can be efficient or inefficient depending on the settings. If you use large packet sizes Kermit is very efficient. Should your round trip delays be long you can use sliding window Kermit. This is like asking "Is there a protocol more efficient than TCP?" The answer is "Yes" and "Not necessarily".
