[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Hooking PC onto Internet

bill@polygen.uucp (Bill Poitras) (12/08/89)

I am going to hook up an IBM PC-AT onto an internet connection. The line
I will be using is hooked up to a Cisco router. I want to run Excelan's
LAN Workplace for DOS. Assuming that the router is hooked up properly,
is this possible? If so, what do I use for my IP address? I am very new
to networking world, I was chosen to do this task mainly because of my IBM PC
experience. Also, eventually I am going to replace the PC-DOS with Xenix/286
with Excelan's LAN Workplace for Xenix/286 TCP/IP, to act as a mail site. How
do I find out how this is done. There are some Unix people I can ask, but
asking help from a PC TCP/IP newsgroup sounds like I might get people who have
done exactly what I am trying to accomplish. Thanks in advance.
