[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] NCSA Telnet and 3C503 and packet drivers ...

EE5990038@RVAX.CCIT.ARIZONA.EDU (Paul Charette) (12/08/89)

	I am working with NNCSA Telnet version 2.3beta on an Intel System 310
(PC compatible) under MS-DOS version 3.3 with an Etherlink 3C503 card. I
managed to get the NCSA stuff working with the 3C503 "packet driver" stuff.
However, I can't seem to get it to work without the packet driver (hardware=
3c503). I was wondering how I would need to configure my system if I
wanted to run without thepacket driver mode. Is the 3c503 driver internal
to TELBIN.EXE? When I try to run telbin.exe with the following in my
config.tel file:
hardware=3c503
interrupt=3
address=cc00
ioaddr=300

Without installing the 3c503 TSR (what _does_ TSR stand for?), I get the
following error message:

error from dlayerinit()=-1

Any ideas what's happening here? Also, is there any comprehensive
documentation about NCSA Telnet V2.3beta? I have some bits and pieces
about how to use it, but I would like to know how it works a little better
(I guess I _could_ read the code ;-).

ANYhow, thanks in advance for any help ...
