[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Wollongong PathWay Client Plus for DOS

jmatrow@ncrwic.Wichita.NCR.COM (John Matrow) (12/23/89)

I have had Wollongong Group's PATHWAY CLIENT PLUS for three weeks and have
yet to see a packet from the redirector make it to the network. The TCP/IP
utilities (TELNET, etc.) work fine. I have it installed on my NCR PC916
with a 3COM 3C501 card.

Does anyone else have any experience with this?

LAN MAGAZINE was glad that this package ran in 75K (Nov., p.36). When I
minimized all parameters, I could only get down to 84K.

Are you seeing NetBIOS name resolution packets? (UDP)

A common error is to misconfigure the PC names (e.g. PC A is phred.twg.com
and PC B is just jojo with no domain added).

With a 3c501 board you should be able to get under 77K -- about 5 for the
driver, 17 for TCP/IP, 28 for NetBIOS, and 26 for the redirector.
