[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Mail Archive Server is Functioning

listmast@TIS.COM (List Master, agent: James M Galvin) (01/11/90)

It has been four months or so, since I moved the PCIP list to "UDEL.EDU". At
the time of the move I was not able to immediately set up the e-mail archive
server. I have done so at this time, and I have brought the archives
completely up to date.

There are 25 digests in each volume of the archives. There are currently 5
complete volumes and 20 digests in volume 6.

I have enclosed instructions for using the archive server below. I apologize
for the delay and thank those who waited patiently.

I would also like to remind the BITNET subscribers to please send your
messages to "pcip@udel.edu", NOT the LISTSERV process. If you do not send
your message to "pcip@udel.edu", then only BITNET subscribers will see it.

-------

The archives are available via a mail server by sending a message to
"pcip-request@udel.edu". The Subject field of the message, which must be
located in the headers of the message, should be formatted as follows:

Subject: get pcip archive volume VOL number NUM

where "VOL" is the volume number of the digest and "NUM" is the number in
that volume. Do NOT including leading zeroes. The volume number changes
when it is convenient for the maintainer, not at specific intervals. There
are currently 5 complete volumes and a sixth under construction.

The message must contain a Reply-To field, either in the body or in the
headers of the message, formatted as follows:

	Reply-To: ADDRESS

where "ADDRESS" is your address AS IT WOULD LOOK TO MY HOST. I will help you
determine that address if you need it. If you place the "reply-to" in the
headers rather than the body, you must be certain that it will be altered
properly along the path to me so that it reflects the proper return address.

An index is available for each volume. It may be retrieved by requesting
number 0 of the desired volume. The index consists of a collection of the
subject lines of all messages in all the digests of the requested volume,
preceded by the digest number in which that subject line appears.
