I have used the packet driver for the 3c523 with NCSA Telnet and Netware
as well as a few other packages without trouble. I have been using the
onboard transceiver. I sometimes get error messages from the TDR code,
but the card has always worked.

The TDR check on the ni5210, 3c523, and ni9210 is advisory only. The packet
driver requests the 82586 to perform a TDR check, and then reports the results.
Any error other than "Check your cable" is probably spurious and should be
ignored.
