[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] NCSA Telnet with a 3c503 and thick-wire ethernet

wisner@hayes.fai.alaska.edu (Bill Wisner) (01/11/90)

About a month ago I got KA9Q to run on a PC clone with a 3com 503 card
and thick-wire Ethernet. For our purposes, though, we need a TCP package
that can do terminal emulation. KA9Q doesn't seem to do so, but NCSA
Telnet does. So can anyone tell me how, or if, I can get NCSA to work
properly? (The last version I looked at supported the 3c503 but only with
thin-wire ethernet. Can a packet driver be made to work with NCSA Telnet?)

KA9Q does terminal emulation if you install an ANSI driver such as ANSI.SYS,
NANSI.SYS, or PC Magazine's ANSI.COM.

Clarkson's NCSA Telnet uses the packet drivers, both of which are available
from sun.soe.clarkson.edu.

I've run NCSA on Token Ring, 3c523, 3c501 and WD8003E packet drivers.
In you config.tel file just specify your card type as 'packet'.
