Help! I just installed IBM DOS 4.01 on my IBM PS/2 model 80 with a 3M ethernet card (3c523), and now the Stanford University PC IP programs won't run anymore. Does anybody have that combination running succesfully?? Here are more details: Up to several days ago my machine was: IBM PS/2 mod 80, 1 meg memory, 40 meg hard disk set up as two 20 meg partitions, 1 3.5inch drive, parallel printer, IBM 3270 card, 3M ethernet card (3c523). The system was set up with PC DOS 3.3, vdisk, ibmcache, and MS mouse drivers v6.1. I had the Stanford University PC IP package v3.1 and had no problems in using it. Then I installed a 1 meg memory upgrade bringing my memory up to 2 meg. At this stage everything was still running fine. Then I installed PC DOS 4.01. Suddenly TCPIP stopped working. Running TCPIP would hang up the computer so that it would not accept CTRL-ALT-DEL and would have to be powered down. SInce I had also just received a copy of SU-PC IP v3.101, I tried to install it. Now Loading the TCPIP drivers i.e. running TCPIP seems to work o.k. That is it issues a message that the drivers have been loaded as it used to do before. HOWEVER when try to run TELNET or FTP, the printer takes off printing the screen image over and over. If I shut off the printer, the computer hangs and I have to reboot. Included are my config.sys and autoexec.bat files. *** config.sys *** BREAK=ON BUFFERS=20,4 /X FCBS=20,10 FILES=20 LASTDRIVE=E STACKS=16,256 SHELL=C:\DOS\COMMAND.COM /P /E:256 DEVICE=C:\DOS\XMAEM.SYS DEVICE=XMAEM.SYS 64 DEVICE=C:\DOS\XMA2EMS.SYS FRAME=D000 P254=C000 P255=C400 DEVICE=C:\DOS\VDISK.SYS 256 256 64/X:8 device=d:\tcpip\supcip\net3c523.exe INSTALL=C:\DOS\FASTOPEN.EXE C:=(10,10) D:=(10,10)/X *** autoexec.bat *** : : This batch file is for booting the PS2/80 in my office : Rostyk Lewyckyj 07/27/89 : ********************************************************* @ECHO OFF VERIFY ON \MOUSE1\mouse \MOUSE1\cpanel path c:\dos;c:\turbov4;c:\dos\pcmag;c:\msfort;c:\msfort\editor;c:\mouse1;c:\turboc;c:\word;d:\tcpip\supcip;c:\pc3270 APPEND /E set comspec=c:\command.com set lib=c:\msfort\lib set tmp=e:\ set server=128.109.157.31 : scrnsav2 dosedit dttm C:\DOS\GRAPHICS VER PROMPT $P$G : DOSSHELL I would appreciate any hints on how I can get my system working again short of reinstalling DOS 3.3. ----------------------------------------------- Reply-To: Rostyslaw Jarema Lewyckyj urjlew@ecsvax.UUCP , urjlew@unc.bitnet or urjlew@uncvm1.acs.unc.edu (ARPA,SURA,NSF etc. internet) tel.
