[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Problem with ncsa2.3b5, 3c503, packet driver, and an xt.

DMPM@DUKEMC.BITNET (James Dryfoos- PostMaster) (02/08/90)

I am running ncsa 2.3b5 on an xt with a 3c503.
I am using the packet driver version 5.2 as I cannot get ncsa
to run its 3c503 packet driver as I always get a parity check 2 error.
Any way, this has worked for me off and on. Mostly it does not work
however. The packet driver loads fine, but when
I run telnet it reads the config file, displays its IP
address, and then says Warning, packet driver vector
invalid, using default search. I do not know exactly what
this means, but I can see that the ncsa does send out 2
arp requests. One to itself and one to the gateway.
It then hangs and requires a reboot. I have ran all the
tests that come with the board and they all pass -- including
echo test.
I am using interupt 4, ioaddr 0x300, address dc000
and the thin wire port. My call to start the packet
driver is 3c503 0x70 0x4 0x300 1

Appreciate any help.
