[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] PCNFS vs NCSA telnet?

ted@arsocomvax.socom.mil (Ted Nolan) (03/21/90)

Is there any way for Sun's PCNFS and NCSA Telnet to coexist? A packet driver
maybe? Basically, we have lots of PCs with NFS and Ni5210 cards. I'd
like to be able to run NCSA telnet for the tn3270 capability, and just because
it seems better than the PCNFS telnet. Unfortunately, this seems to involve
rebooting without the network. A partial solution (say, one that disallows
access to network disks while telnet is in use, but re-enables NFS on exit)
would be nice too.

Clarkson's version of telnet, called CUTCP/CUTE (formerly based on NCSA 2.2)
has a version that runs with PC-NFS. You can currently get it via anonymous
ftp from
	omnigate.clarkson.edu:/pub/cutcp/v2.2-A/pcnfs.cutcp.zoo

be sure to pick up the readme's, etc.

Rev-B, expected out next week, has better keymapping, rsh, etc.

After Rev-B has been released, it will be made available via clarkson's
E-mail archive server.

At that time, I will make an announcement to this list, please don't ask for
an email copy before that time, thanks
