Our campus broadband is getting on in years and has started to become unreliable (we are moving in stages to FDDI). Does anyone know of devices that can segment faulty legs on a broadband from a remote location (either manually or based on error counts). Also, is there a tool for broadband similar in function to Microtest's Cable scanner for isolating cable faults (it would be great if this could be used on an active network but I won't get my hopes up). We currently are running several services over this cable including ethernet, asychronous networks (Sytek etc.) and point to point modems. The cable itself is a 300MHz mid-split design in a tree topology and services approximately 60 buildings throughout our campus. Many thanks in advance for any help with this!
