[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Lan Manager and TCP/IP

mshiels@tmsoft.uucp (Michael A. Shiels) (07/11/90)

Are the hooks that TCP/IP NFS products use to hook into the file system
documented and freely available for OS/2?

Can a Lan Manager server SHARE a NFSed/PCSAed drive so that other people
can get at it? Ie NFS mount unix root and then do it's own permission
checking on parts of the root?

The Microsoft "Installable File System" interface is proprietary, and
documentation is not freely available; ask Microsoft for details.

I may be talking through my hat here (out at the edge of my expertise),
but that kind of 'pass-thru' access is a bit sophisticated for what
LAN Manager tries to be. I wouldn't bet on it.
