[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] LPR for NCSA's 2.2TN

Li@USCN.BITNET (Jialin Li) (07/19/90)

Our department here has many PCs connect through Ethernet, and run
NCSA's telnet 2.2TN. We would like to setup a dedicated PC as printer
server. The lpr program we got for this 2.2TN prints fine for text
files, not for binary files. There is a -l switch for binary files
but either it does do anything or just save a file on the server's
harddisk. It's it something easy to fix? The server we are using
is a Zenth 386-25Mhz.

A seperated question. We have several Macintoshes connect by ApplyTalk,
and we have to choose connect it to an existing VAX's DECnet by buyinh
a bridge, or buying a Ethernet card for one of the Mac, and then
connect it to the PC Ethernet. Which way is the better way?
Can Macs networked with ApplyTalk be fully connected to a PC Ethernet?
IS there some like NCSA's Telnet 2.2TN for Mac?

Thanks for any advise.
