[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] IBM X-Windows for PC == Locus pcXsight?

wieland@ea.ecn.purdue.edu (Jeffrey J Wieland) (07/19/90)

The title says is all -- is IBM's X-Windows For PC oem'ed from Locus?
I'm trying to find out which 3Com card IBM's product supports, but
no at IBM appears to know. If IBM is using Locus' software, then I
can probably assume that they both support the same network cards.

According to press releases at the time the product came out, IBM's
is indeed an OEM version of pcXsight. I haven't used it, so I can't
say if they've modified it, or what they support. I don't know if
IBM has been tracking Locus's recent enhancements, but I understand
Locus has added a version of pcXsight which uses our PC/TCP kernel
instead of Locus's TCP/IP (and thus all the interfaces we support).
