Has anyone made a packet driver for the Ungerman-Bass NIU card ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kjetil Otter Olsen kjetilo@gollum.uio.no Central Computing Service, University of Oslo, Norway ----------------------------------------------------------------------

In general I've been left feeling like the NIU is an orphaned card. Anyone from U-B reading this list? Ken Latta, Merit Computer Network, NSFNet PRoject, klatta@merit.edu

According to recent news postings, there is an NDIS driver for the UB-NIU card, and at least some packages for packet driver are capable of using our NDIS-to-packet-driver perverter. There are two problems: UB (again, according to recent postings) charges for the NDIS driver, which is rather unusual; and they have not tested it. It might be worth a try, though. Our NDIS perverter, is available by anonymous ftp rom vax.ftp.com in packet.driver/ NDIS/TAR as part of the ndis.tar file (I think...). I periodically hear that U-B will eventually release NDIS drivers for all of their cards. Once this happens, and if the cost is reasonable, and if they work, you can use the NDIS-PDS adapter we've been working on. James B. There *is* a packet driver for this. Get the 7.0 alpha (read: test!) release from sun.soe.clarkson.edu. I can't remember the name of the directory so you'll have to do some fishing around... regards, Allen Robel robelr@bronze.ucs.indiana.edu University Computing Services ROBELR@IUJADE.BITNET Network Research & Planning voice: (812)855-7171 Indiana University FAX: (812)855-8299

> Anyone > from U-B reading this list? ***Warning: flame! No, nobody from UB reads this list. The company that calls itself the "leading standards-based networking company" does not distribute Usenet to its employees, is not connected to the Internet, and does not see any need to connect its internal email system to the rest of the world. I am not a spokesperson for UB, and can give no official statement. I just call it like I see it... :-) - Alan Millar Scathing, sarcastic, flame replies to AMillar@cup.portal.com
