In my previous message I made a fatal mistake. The final quotation said:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"In the beginning was the Word... but it hasn't a fixed number of bits."
Genesis 1:1 (last edition)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The sentence "In the beggining..." really appears in John 1:1. So the
correct (and better) version is:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"In the beginning was the Word..." (John 1:1)
Yes, but it hasn't a fixed number of bits !!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw this quotation a long, long time ago in the book "Anatomy of LISP" by
John Allen (McGraw-Hill, 1978). I love it (the quotation) since then.
Please forgive me. I have only a limited Biblical knowledge.
