[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] RARPD wanted for pc w/packet drivers

barry@sun.udel.edu (Barry Fausnaugh) (08/31/90)

I am looking for something that will assign IP addresses to Ethernet
addresses like RARPD does in Unix. However, I need for this to run on a
PC (I know this may be asking too much but I would also like for it to
run "in the background.") In other words, I would like to run some
other application on the same PC that is running RARPD. This will not
be a user station but will be running another program that is necessary
on the network. If you have or know of such a program, please let me
know. I will worry about compatability after finding out if such a
beast exists.

Thanks,
Barry Fausnaugh

It doesn't look hard to add to KA9Q; pretty much all the
infrastructure is already present. It's simple enough, and of
such general utility, that I wouldn't mind seeing it a supported
NOS feature.

Phil, are you listening?
