[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Packet Driver for Excelan EXOS 205?

ken@dali.gatech.edu (Ken Seefried iii) (09/19/90)

Does anyone know of a packet driver for the Excelan EXOS 205 ethernet
board (smart card with 80186, 82586 and 64K ram)? I'd like to use the
otherwise useless pair that I have under the PCBridge software.

Thanks...

I'm sure there's one around. Did you try FTP Software's anon FTP
area? We have a packet driver, but I'm not sure that it's the same as
the current packet driver spec (was written awhile ago). It also
requries the Excelan on-board TCP/IP module and DRIVER.EXE TSR to be
loaded. Probably another one would also require that.

My opinions, of course. And don't hold me to them.

Excelan did an NDIS driver, but you probably won't be able to get it from
them (Novell is behind ODI, y'know). Using a smart card usually implies
writing code which gets loaded onto it and executed. This isn't easy
unless you have lots of tools and support, so the freeware developers
haven't done anything either.
