Omission of a floppy-formatting utility seems to be technique used by larger companies to force purchase of THEIR floppies. This seems to be particularly true of DEC, where the RX02 was mentioned. When they first released the Rainbow, a formatter was not included, and this caused so many complaints from the micro community that they eventually relented. Generally, a formatting utility IS included. The use of a bulk eraser would probably do slightly more good than bad, but I really don't think it makes an appreciable difference. -------
