[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Problem of coexistence of 3com 3+share and NCSA telnet/FTP

PVJQC@CUNYVM (09/29/90)

Forgive me if this problem has already been taken care of.
I have a network of 20 IBM PS/2 model 80s with 3com 3c523 boards and running
3+share net. software under DOS 3.3. These are connected on thin ethernet
with some Sun and NeXT workstations. I have NCSA's Telnet/FTP which I use
to get on to suns/nexts. If I am logged on to 3COM network and then get iinto
ftp/telnet, I get a network error after quiting from ftp/telnet and I have to
reboot to get back into 3com net. I recently received a new set of packet drive
s
for a variety of boards from Clarkson Uni. I could not get it to work.
I would appreciate some response.
Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately, 3+share net doesn't support the packet drivers (that I know
of). Not to mention the fact that the 6.x and 7.x 3c523 driver is broken,
and will only work if you run the 5.x first. I've got an idea what's wrong,
and a new version of the 7.x 3c523 driver. Send me mail if you want to test
a copy.
