[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Help novice with product info, Please

erickson@carroll1.cc.edu (Dave Erickson) (10/02/90)

Hello.

Recently I was given the task of finding a software package to
provide tcp/ip services for an AT with a WD 16 bit ethernet card
connected to a campus wide network. The desired services would be telnet
(client, obviously), FTP (client and server), possibly remsh, rlogin
(but not really necessary), and possibly some form of smtp type stuff.

I've heard the name PC/TCP bounced around a lot, but I'm really not
familiar with it's purpose or function. What I'm asking for are leads
on software packages to meet this need, be they shareware, freeware,
pd, commercial, or whatever. I'm somewhat familiar with TCP/IP, but
not on pcs. (I've worked mainly in Unix environments with it.)

Please e-mail any suggestions. I'm sure there won't be enough interest,
but if there is, I'll forward or post any info I get plus an evaluation of
whatever we try.

Thanks a bunch!!!
