A few days ago, I asked for suggestions on packet drivers to go from an IBM Token Ring to Ethernet TCP-IP. I received suggestions both on- line and via e-mail. Thanks to all who responded: to summarize the e-mail (I assume you saw the postings) Tery Anstey suggests IBMToken-I have the info if you're interested Tom Seto suggests Maryland U's MD-IP package Peter Marshall has the winner--see below. As Peter Marshall asked, quite simply, "Why not just plug your Cisco router into the Ring?" Why not, indeed? I asked myself, and couldn't come up with a good answer. Turns out there is none. Since I'm not going directly to our Ethernet backbone, there is no *need* for a gateway-type machine in between. Something like PCRoute with packet drivers *would* be necessary, if there were no Cisco box. But, since there is one handy, all I need to do is wait for Cisco to come up with a 16 Mbit/sec Token Ring card for their box, and I'm in business. Thanks again to all who responded.
