[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] DOS/IP Telnet and eighth bit.

IJAH400@INDYVAX.IUPUI.EDU ("James A. Harvey") (11/01/90)

Does anyone know if there is a way to make DOS/IP ignore the most significant
bit of characters on a Telnet connection. We have a situation where a terminal
switch (reached by DOS/IP Telnet) can make a serial connection to a 7171 to an
IBM system we need to connect to, but the 7171 is set for even parity (and we
can't do anything about that) and DOS/IP's Telnet displays strange eight-bit
characters for the characters with the parity bit turned on. This happens
regardless of whether we use the VT200 or VT100 emulator.

The NCSA (or CUTCP) Telnet VT100 emulator not have this problem.
