[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] cutcp/tn3270 and the 3c503 card

klefstad@ux1.cso.uiuc.edu (Sue Klefstad) (11/01/90)

NCSA Telnet2.2 does not support the 3C503 ethernet adapter card.
Telnet2.3beta must be used.

But it is my understanding that the 3270 derivations of NCSA Telnet
are all based on Telnet2.2.

Is there a 3270 telnet that *does* support the 3c503 card?

Thanks.

Yes! The trick is to use the public domain packet drivers rather than the
built-in driver code. I have been using the 3c503 (and 3c505) packet
drivers with no problems. You specify "packet" instead of the adapter
type in the config.tel file. You must run the packet driver before any
other network programs. Invokign it in autoexec.bat works fine (it installs
itself as a TSR). Ron.

Get a copy of CUTCP (which has tn3270), and the packet drivers (which has
a 3c503 driver). Bash them together and you'll have what you want...
