[net.micro] Cermatek vs. Hayes

I don't know about the quality of the Cermatek command language
(although if this bit I read abotu ^N is the case, it is garbage) but
one thing I do know is that whenever I have noise problems dialing a
modem, It's a Cermatek. My modem is a Hayes smartmodem and half the time
calling one of the local machines with a cermatek you get a very noisy line,
full of rubouts and braces (7e,7f) - quite a pain. Other Hayes modems have
the same problem. Oddly, it's solved by taking an extension phone off the
hook and pulling out the microphone - obviously the line needs to be loaded
down. Anyway, these modems are clearly built with their sensativity set
too high, and I wouldn't get one if they still have that problem.
