Version 7 (pktd7_0.arc and now driver.arc) mentions that the driver for 3c523.com is broken and gives a way of making it work by first loading version 5 of 3c523, terminating it and then start version 7. The problem is the file 3c523_5.com that comes with version 7 (this is supposed to be the version 5 file) is short some bytes and doesn't work. I pulled pktd5_0.arc and 3c523.com is 4031 bytes and works with above scheme. The 3c523_5.com file in version 7 is I think 4014 bytes and dies and forces reboot to clear. Jim Dryfoos

I pulled pktd5_0.arc and 3c523.com is 4031 bytes and works with above scheme. Yes, that's a problem. I do, however, have a working version of the 3c523 driver that isn't in an official release yet. If you fetch sun.soe.clarkson.edu:/pub/packet-drivers/3c523.com, it should do the trick for you. It also uses all 16K of the board's memory. --russ (nelson@clutx [.bitnet | .clarkson.edu]) FAX 315-268-7600 It's better to get mugged than to live a life of fear -- Freeman Dyson I joined the League for Programming Freedom, and I hope you'll join too.
