richards@HAWK.NSTN.NS.CA (11/28/90)
My boss recently tasked me with locating the *optimal* package that would
provide the following functionality to our customers on a dial-up basis:
- Telnet
- FTP
- Mail reader service (a la POP, PCMAIL, IMAP)
- News reader
We want to run this 'package' over either SLIP or preferably a class 6 packet
driver thus not neccesitating the use of a dedicated on-site server.
The customers machines are DOS machines, which precludes a wide variety of
choices.
Is their anyone there who has had to solve a similar problem and can share
their experiences and/or solutions. I will be happy to summarize for the net.
Any help would be greatly appreciated (I should warn you that I am rather new
to networking, my background being Naval Command and Control, thus I may
appear to be somewhat lacking in brain cells).
You can get me at the E-mail address below.
Good Day, Eh
Mark
