I've been trying to get some TCP/IP support for a VaxMate and its internal ethernet card. I have been able to load PROTMAN.SYS, MACDEPCA.SYS and the dis_pkt.dos drivers and bind them for a DEPCA card in an IBM-AT, but the MACDEPCA driver doesn't seem to recognize the ethernet card in the VaxMate. My questions are: 1) Is there some set-up I am overlooking for the VaxMate to "initialize" the ethernet card, or is it just not recognized (I think the same DLL.EXE driver works for it and the DEPCA); 2) Does FTP support the internal ethernet card in VaxMates under their TCP package (failing a PD packet approach); 3) Am I wasting my time with these machines (the problem is, I have quite a few)? Any help would be appreciated. Please reply directly. Jeff Luck CES Systems Office Penn State University (JFL4@PSUVM.PSU.EDU)

2) Does FTP support the internal ethernet card in VaxMates under their TCP package (failing a PD packet approach); FTP doesn't own a VaxMate, so I can't really guarantee it, but I know our PC-223 (DEPCA) version ran fine the last time we tried it. It could certainly be the case that the NDIS driver only works on the separate card, and not on the built-in version, but I'd hope for better from DEC; check the configuration and the manuals... Jeff, > >I've been trying to get some TCP/IP support for a VaxMate and its >internal ethernet card....Does FTP support the internal ethernet card >in VaxMates under their TCP package (failing a PD packet approach); > Both FTP Software and ourselves provide direct support for the DEC's DLL interface. This would avoid your problems with the PD approach. enjoy, leo j mclaughlin iii The Wollongong Group ljm@twg.com
