[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] AdvanceLink and PC/TCP

pinkham@ucthpx.UUCP (Chris Pinkham) (12/11/90)

I am trying to get AdvanceLink, version B.02.00, working
with the tnglass (or rlogingl) applications included in the
PC/TCP distribution from FTP software. I select the
Com1/Int14 comms option in the terminal setup, and
then run `tnglass myhphost -e advlink', and eventually
get a connected session, but with huge delays in response
to keyboard input.

Has anyone got this combination to work? Do I need a newer
version of AdvanceLink? I don't have any trouble running
this configuration using HP's Arpa Services application, BTW.

Thanks,

Sounds like the way they decide if characters are available over INT
14 is a little outside the mainstream. Alternatively, they may be
doing everything off the timer tick, and re-entering the kernel
frequently. If they want to talk to us about the details, we're
interested in understanding them - we just can't promise that we'll
be able to implement what they want while retaining compatibility
with the other emulators we support.
