[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] PCNFS and Windows 3.0 living together

MLEO@CDEV.CFSMO.HONEYWELL.COM ("Michael Leo, 612-785-4219") (01/03/91)

Hello all,

Recently this list carried a thread on PCNFS and Windows 3.0
co-existing. I ignored this thread, mostly because I did not
use Windows.

But now I'm forced to use Windows and am having problems with
PCNFS and Microsoft fighting over memory. My machine constantly
hangs at inconvenient times.

Could some kind soul send me a summary of what I need to do to
get these two to co-exist peacefully. You may even forward me
the whole barrage of mail the thread consisted of, and I will sort
it out for myself.

                                Thanx,

                                Michael Leo

WE have user Windows and PC-NFS quite successfully. I found out that a memory
manager such as QEMM vs 5.1 is a must, or you will run out of memory
Quickly. With QEMM you can load things like PCNFS (or what every communications
system you are running) into the adaptor space out of harm's way, leaving more
space for windows.

Currently I am running Windows 3 with PC/TCP (plus its version of NFS) and
X Vision's X server.
