[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] WinQVT/NET and NDIS

krumseea@tardis.ohio-state.EDU (Art Krumsee) (01/04/91)

I have been trying to get WinQVT/Net to work with NDIS drivers using FTP
Software's NDIS to Packet Driver conversion driver, DIS_PKT.DOS. So
far I have had very little luck. The PKTINT.COM module loads fine
prior to loading Windows. But when I run WNQVTNET.EXE I get a string of
error messages. They are Packet Driver error 11, Packet Driver Error 10,
and finally "Can't Access IP Handle Interface Type 1. Packet Driver
Probably not Loaded."

Has anyone else tried this? Is there anything obvious I might be doing
wrong or is there a reason why this won't work?

If WinQVT/Net cannot find the DIS_PKT.DOS from Windows, you should try
loading it first, and then loading Windows. This is more likely to work,
and, if it does, will provide you with a more flexible configuration.

Actually there is no way to load WinQVT/Net other than to first load the
PKTINT.COM module below Windows and then to load the interface itself from
within Windows. This works with other packet drivers. It just does not
seem to work with DIS_PKT.DOS.
