I am trying to find a couple of things:
1. A newer than '87 version of RZSZ for Ultrix.
2. An Msdos shell that will successfully operate
Forsberg DSZ Zmodem between the PC and the
Dec.
The purpose is to be able to transfer files to and from
the Dec 5810 Ultrix system via the home PC. Procomm, GTPowercomm
Telix, as well as several others refuse to operate.
If You have any sourrces, please let me know.
r The other item is any compression utility that will work
on both the Dec and the pc. I have uuencode for pc, which
is great, but Pkzip is the compression utility on th pc
which is uncompatible with Ultrix.

2. An Msdos shell that will successfully operate
Forsberg DSZ Zmodem between the PC and the
Dec.
You might try a copy of Telemate for your PC (I got TM211.ZIP from GEnie). It
has built-in Zmodem support. It autodetects a download (ie, type "SZ something"
on the mainframe and the Telemate download window pops up all by itself). I
don't know if it's possible for it to talk to RZ on an upload. I do it manually
and it works.

To get a ms-dos zmodem to work properly with a unix RZSZ, try starting rz or sz (on the unix side) with a "-w 2048" parameter. I find this works best with Telix. Others have suggested altering some of the other parameters on the rz or sz command line.
