[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] problem with PCNFS and modified NCSA telnet

chris@sulaw.law.su.OZ.AU (Chris Hutchinson) (01/10/91)

Is anyone else using the Clarkson University version of NCSA telnet
that is hacked for PCNFS.

I have been using it for a few weeks with PCNFS 3.1 and a NI5210 ethernet
card.

The telnet randomly crashes - locking up totally to the point that a reset
is the only solution. The lockups occur more frequently with more than one
session open.

Has anyone seen this problem and/or know of an answer.

I want the best of both worlds - NCSA telnet rather than the PCNFS horror,
and NFS mounted directories.

Surely this is possible!

Chris

I have tried to use this package on a Zenith 286 clone with a 3C503
card, and have experienced similar periodic lockups, with destruction
of the PC's system configuration/setup info. No solution so far.
