[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Connecting Three PC's

darryl@nexus.YorkU.CA (Darryl Gamble) (01/22/91)

HI!

I am very new to this newsgroup, and will probably be asking old
questions. Hopefully someone will have the patience to reply to
this posting.

I have three PC's (AT and XT's) that I wish to connect together using
ethernet cards (probably 3COM thin ethernet). I am looking for
drive and file sharing on one or all machines (preferrably transparent)
and possibly printer sharing. There has been much discussion in this
news group (recently anyway) involving LanSmart, LanTastic, PC-NFS,
PC/IP, etc.

My question is what inexpensive (the cheaper the better) solution
exists and where would I look for the sources (ftp sites prefered)?
Also which system will give me the best "response" ?

If anyone already has set up a similar implementation, I would love to
hear your solutions (and possible nightmares along the way).

Please e-mail your responses to me.
As always I will post a summary of e-mail responses if interest exists.

Thanks in advance
