[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] NCSA Telnet Mods for META Terminal???

rock@rancho.uucp (Rock Kent) (01/26/91)

I recently started using NCSA Telnet 2.3b11 and really appreciate the
improvements in keyboard mapping over the 2.3b9 I was using.

I would like, however, to remap the alt-alpha characters to their
meta- versions (ascii code + 128) in order to work with GNUemacs as a
meta- terminal. NCSA Telnet, though, traps all alt-alpha keys before
they reach the mapping interface.

Has anyone modified NCSA Telnet to use some key other than alt- to
invoke the telnet commands? It seems to me that perhaps alt+leftshift
would make an acceptible combination for invoking the telnet commands
and would still allow redefinition of all alt-key combinations.

Thanks for help or hints.
