The Eudora POP3 client for the Mac has a very nice variant, a "serial" version in which the package uses a serial interface to connect (typically through a telnet client running on a terminal server or host) to the POP3 port of a POP3 server. Thus, from a Mac that is hardwired to a serial port on a Unix box or terminal server, the Eudora client can still initiate a POP session. Similarly, a Mac with a slow-speed modem can call a dumb (no SLIP, etc.) tip and download POP mail. Does anyone know of a POP client for MS-DOS with similar capabilities? -- JQ Johnson Director of Network Services Internet: jqj@oregon.uoregon.edu University of Oregon voice: (503) 346-4394 250E Computing Center BITNET: jqj@oregon Eugene, OR 97403-1212 fax: (503) 346-4397
