[comp.protocols.tcp-ip.ibmpc] Routing TCP-IP between token ring & ethernet **without** Novell?

fargo@iear.arts.rpi.edu (Irwin M. Fargo) (02/09/91)

While the subject of packet routing is in the air...

I just recently got an IBM Token Ring up and running with IBM's PC Lan Program.
I've been following the discussion on using the Clarkson packet driver for
token ring and the PCLP together and have gotten it working (yay!).

I also have a couple 3COM Ethernet cards and will be setting up a small Ether-
net as well. I wanted to know if it's possible to route IP packets from the
token ring onto the Ethernet and vice-versa.

I'd really be interested in a routing package that uses the Clarkson packet
drivers, but I'll take a look at anything reasonable. The main reason I'd
like something that uses the packet drivers is that if it can be gotten to
work between two type of drivers, then it shouldn't be too hard to get it
working with other drivers (Yes... I can hear some of you laughing :).
Specifically, I'd like to be able to route IP from the token ring onto SLIP
(in case the Ethernet doesn't work out).

Thank you for your support.
