We have a large installed base of Banyan lans (~40+ servers) with numerous printers accessible from each PC on the Banyan network. We also have several central administrative computing systems, running on various flavours of Unix systems. Problem: How to provide access to those printers on the Banyan network (ie: where the users are) from the central systems? The printers must remain accessible from Banyan via the PCs LPTx. Has anyone else tackled this? Solved this? Note: Using terminal emulators (either kermit or FTP softwares' telnet) and using the print-through facilities of a vt100 is NOT an option. We've tried that, but it only allows access to ONE printer (LPT1) - several applications will need access to several printers (special forms etc.) Send respones to me. I'll summarise to the net if there is any interest. Clive Newall E-mail: clive@asis.unimelb.EDU.AU Information Technology Services (ASIS), University of Melbourne.
