KA9Q NOS (not "KA9A NOS") is a network operating system package
intended primarily for the IBM PC, but it has been ported to other
platforms including the Commodore Amiga, Atari ST, Apple Macintosh,
and various flavors of UNIX.

The primary purpose of the package is to bring the TCP/IP protocol suite
to amateur packet radio, but it is not limited to packet radio, nor is
it just a TCP/IP implementation. Several protocols popular in amateur
packet radio ("NET/ROM", "AX.25") can be used either alone or
in conjunction with TCP/IP.

Among other things, the package contains an IP router and both server
and client functions for telnet, ftp, smtp, finger and some other
services (there's also an NNTP client). The telnet server provides a
BBS-like system for passing messages.

The KA9Q NOS (including source code) is freely available by anonymous
FTP (see a message I just posted here for the details). It may be used
gratis by radio amateurs and universities; all others should contact
me for permission.

By the way, for those who may not be radio amateurs, "KA9Q" is my
FCC-assigned amateur radio callsign.
