It has been announced in Electronic Engineering Times (3/18/85 edition)
about the AT&T PC 7300; that AT&T will announce it next week. From the article
it looks quite attractive: priced between $5000-$6000, MS/DOS and UNIX,IBM
2780,3270, and 3780 terminal emulation, M68010 32-bit micro, 512 KB RAM,
1.6Mbyte floppy-disk, 10Mbyte Winch, multiuser (8) operation, expandable to
1Mb RAM and 20-40 Mbyte hard disk, 300-1200 internal modem, 720x348 monochrome
screen, IBM-PC emulation, mouse, and support for a PBX. SOunds like a dynamic
system! AT&T has been manufacturing them and stock piling for the announcement.

    1. The ``UNIX PC'' appears to be a Convergent box with an AT&T nameplate.
	Does anyone know for sure?

    2. IBM 2780 emulation? The 2780 was a card reader/printer remote job
entry station. Why would one want to emulate it? IBM 3270 emulation
is common; the 3270 is a CRT terminal.

the IBM 2780 is a data transmission terminal,a remote job entry terminal.
if you want to be an RJE station (or look like one as far as some IBM
mainframe is concerned), you might want to emulate the IBM2780. this is
as much as I know about it, I'm trying to emulate a HASP workstation
from my PRIME, but that's another story...
